Be wary of this firm trying to charge you more than they should. I needed a statutory declaration signing for which the solicitor tried charging me £25. In his words, he charges £350 per hour and start quoting units to me. He did not have to prepare the statutory declaration, did not have to give any advice etc. as I had gone in with a declaration pre-prepared. He had no issues with this. A Commissioner for Oaths or solicitor must charge £5 per person signing a statutory declaration and £2 for each exhibit which is required to be marked. The Commissioners for Oaths (Fees) Order 1993 dictates how much a Commissioner for Oaths and solicitor can charge to witness a statutory declaration. The fees are inclusive of Value Added Tax. This cost is fixed by law. I left and went to another firm a short distance away to get the declaration signed and stamped for the £5 it should have also cost at Vanstone Solicitors.

I have had a couple of dealings with this practice, in particular with their trainee solicitor, Anisa. She has answered all queries promptly, followed them up and brought them to a conclusion. She has been excellent and is clearly a huge asset to the firm.
