I can't thank Hodge Jones & Allen enough for their incredible support throughout my case, especially May Spencer. From the very beginning, May was dedicated, professional, and genuinely cared about both me and my situation. She always took the time to explain things clearly, kept me updated at every stage, and made sure I fully understood what was happening. No matter how stressful things got, I always felt reassured knowing she was handling my case with such care and attention. I can’t speak highly enough of the service I’ve had from HJA – from the staff who looked after me and my co-defendants. And it did feel like being ‘looked after’. I am profoundly glad that we have such able and committed people working to protect and enhance our civil liberties. The support when I rang the firm’s emergency number from the police custody centre was clear and helpful. Paralegal Somaya Yassine was clear too; she responded to my emails and calls, always knew who I was when I rang, and knew where our case was up to. I knew HJA have a track record of representing protesters. However, it seems clear to me that this is more than ‘just a job’ for those who work there. Raj Chada’s clarity at the outset about the importance of protesting DSEI meant I felt I could trust him and the firm to do their best for us because we shared values. Laura O’Brien then took our case and represented me. I have nothing but praise for her and the work she did for us and the work she does to protect and enhance our civil liberties. She was always clear and succinct. She explained the legal process, the legal issues, and what we might expect. She gave us information in a timely manner. I always felt secure in her grasp of our case and its details. It felt like we had her full attention, and her full support. Her clarity extended to her performance in court in our defence – courteous and persistent, clear and succinct. And effective! I also just really enjoyed meeting and working with her. I recently went to see Chun Wong about an extremely stressful legal issue concerning my property. Chun was empathetic, kind and supportive. I was recommended this firm by my neighbour for a disrepair issues in my council property. I was with the firm for nearly 2 years as these type of disrepair council cases take time to settle. My assigned solicitor Imran was impeccable with his professionalism, communication and execution of administering a great service to me. He was always highly personalble throughout the case and we always accomplished tasks, i.e, paperwork, sending over evidence and him keeping me updated with any changes to the case if there were any. I felt secure and never once felt a sense of apprehension about the outcome because he would discuss everything with me and the proceedures which gave me full reassurance surrounding the knowledge of the case. I was informed about the law around what governs me as a council tenant yet ones that protect me too. I felt listened too and all of my concerns and worries were seen as valuable and important as with these cases they can be very distressing and of course create worry. My feelings and experience were always taken into consideration and recognised as valid and substantial. There was a lot of paperwork thoughout the time however, Imran always ensured if I had any questions or quries I should contact him regarding them. I had a wonderful experience with other members of the team who at times I had to liase with. When the case finally went to court I never once doubted the outcome. "YES WE WON" that was amazing after such a long duration of time. The Barrister was great and we disscused all possible outcomes before the hearing went to court. All I can say is the firm has a great reputation because of the individuals who work there. They represent the excellence to their clients, with my case I received the best possible outcome and won. A highly professional group who know the law and work with clients at the highest possible service in my opinion. I have nothing but praise for them all and the experience I had was excellent.
